They're back!

The kids have been returned to us. My mother has been off work for the past two weeks and got her first nap today. We took the kids swimming tonight at the hotel. They learned alot during swimming lessons this time. Ivy is now swimming underwater for short stretches and is making an effort to do the strokes to swim albeit crudely.

However, at the pool tonight, I developed a horrible migraine. So much so, that I had to leave the pool area. There were lots of kids there and it was really really noisy. Now I have taken some pain medicine and am feeling a bit better.

For the second day in a row, we went to State Street for Maxwell Street Days. I got some great bargains at Art Gecko and walked away (over the two days) with 5 shirts of various types for $20. The kids got purses there as well and hula hoops at another store. My parents stopped at Lands' End and everyone got some good deals, including a t-shirt for Glenn that had a monogrammed "G" on it.

I am not looking forward to work this week. It is going to be extremely warm in the warehouse. The temps over the weekend have been 90+ and the warehouse won't have cooled down much at nights and no one has been in there to turn on the ceiling fans to circulate the air. Adding to the misery is that it will be an extremely busy week due to various releases and at least one person taking some vacation time late in the week.

After all the humor posts, I thought I would post a general update post. There are pictures of our various activities of the past few weeks on Flickr.

While the kids were gone, we went to three movies, a wedding reception, a 10th anniversary party, and the Bristol Renaissance faire. Some of these events are documented in the pictures and some are not.

Sharing a funny

The guys at work have been playing Stephen Lynch for months, so the song was not new to me. However, the video made it even funnier. I hope you enjoy!

Television and censorship - Blame Canada!

Sitting at my parents' place, Glenn and I decided to see what was on late-night TV. I turned on the set and checked the on-screen listings. Comedy Central listed South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut. I was a bit surprised and wondered how it would be cut.

Changing channels, I realized that the movie had just started (at midnight). We were watching, commenting to each other on how good the music of this movie is. After a bit, we commented on how interesting the number done by Terrance and Philip would be censored; how could they run "Uncle fucka" uncut?

Much to our surprise, the number ran completely uncut. It is very strange to hear the "f-bomb" spoken this much on TV. Upon reflection, we realized that it was pretty easy for Comedy Central: they own the rights to the movie as well as they have been running movies uncut late at night. At every commercial break, going back to the movie the following disclaimer runs:

MATURE AUDIENCES ONLY.
This program is uncut.
It contains strong language
and some adult situations.
Viewer discression is advised

It is nice to finally see someone having the realization that movies run at midnight don't need to be censored.

Interestingly, it is being run in pan and scan mode, but that is a differrent type of censorship that I may rant about at a different time.
